WES ARMSTRONG

Past District Governor Wes was inducted into the Rotary Club of Coleraine in 1980 and had completed 40 years in Rotary on his death.

During this time, he served as Club President in 2004-05 which coincided with the 65th Anniversary of the founding of the club and the Centenary of Rotary International. Wes was the driving force in a joint initiative between the club and Coleraine Borough Council in the creation of the Rotary Centennial Garden at Christie Park Coleraine.

He was elected to serve District 1160 (Ireland) as Membership Attraction and Engagement Chair 2007-2008, District Governor Nominee 2008-09, District Governor Elect 2009-10 and District Governor 2010-11.  During his year as District Governor Wes travelled the length and breadth of Ireland many times visiting all 75 clubs at least once.

He also attended the 101st Annual Rotary International Convention at the Centre Bell in Montréal, Québec, Canada, in June 2010, where he received his District Governor's Jacket. There were more than 18,000 attendees from 154 countries present,
